AVAILABLE POISONS
There are currently 6 Types of poison available on DEX2.
| Code: | Poison Type Ability Affected
=================== ================
Scorpion Venom STR
Bee Venom DEX
Centipede Venom CON
Ghoul Opiate INT
Bufo Toad Oil WIS
Toadstool Extract CHA
|
These six types can be found in 3 different strengths:
| Code: | Poison Apply Base On Hit On Hit Secondary Secondary
Grade DC DC Damage Ability Damage Ability
========== ===== ==== ====== ======= ========= =========
Mild 24 14 d4(2) -d4 d6(2) -2
Potent 32 24 d4(3) -d6 d6(3) -4
Weaponized 40 34 d4(4) -d8 d6(4) -6
|
On the initial hit, the OnHit Damage is rolled and applied as Acid Damage and the poison effect is applied to the target. If the target fails a Fortitude save throw vs poison, the Ability damage is rolled and applied and the target is poisoned. After 1 minute, the target must make a second Fortitude save or suffer the secondary ability and damage effects.
APPLYING POISON TO A WEAPON
To apply poison to your weapon, you must beat the ApplyDC of poison being applied. The formula to beat this DC calculated as:
| Code: | | Apply DC vs d20 + Max(Assassin or Black Guard Level) + DEX Modifier |
If you are not in combat, you can take 20 on the d20 roll. The Use Poison feat will allow you to take 20 while engaged in combat. Failing to beat the DC results in poisoning yourself and taking 1/2 the ApplyDC in acid damage. If you succeed in applying the poison, it will remain applied to your weapon for a number of rounds equal to your ApplyRoll. Only one poison may be applied to your weapon at a time.
The Save DC of the Poison will scale based on your Assassin/Blackguard levels and is calculated as:
| Code: | | Final Poison DC = BaseDC + Max(Assassin || Black Guard Level)/2 |
The max Save DC for any poison is 39.
Currently the only way to get the strongest poisons is from the boss Attercop Poisonhead. Others may be randomly found as drops. Hopefully this raises the usefulness of Assassins and Blackguards a bit. |

I have noticed that there doesn't seem to be any acid damage granted by poisons. The poison ability damage seems to be working, though.
Edit: The Weaponized intelligence poison that drops from the spider boss is Weaponized Ghoul Opiate. The weaponized int poison sold by the Stricken pawn deal is Weaponized Ghould Opiate. These items, obviously, do not stack with each other. |

based on my current experience poisons are still not working the way they are supposed to. First of all, every time you hit, it says '(Character) casts Poison(20) on (Target)' however only about 1 in 8 times does it provoke a saving throw, the other times nothing happens. Also, no acid damage is done when the target fails a save.
Let me know if there is any specific info I can get to help you.

I was testing earlier, and for me it applies on the first successful hit every round. This includes dual wielding characters, so poisoning both weapons still only allows one poison save per round. (Not sure how this works for hitting multiple targets) |

Can poisons be applied to ranged weapons in any way? It would seem natural to be able to poison ones arrows, bolts, darts, etc, but it doesn't seem to work. |

Yes, you can apply them to ammunition. Make sure you are using it on the arrows or bolts, though, and not the bow or crossbow. And make sure you are suceeding at your use posion check, otherwise it won't apply no matter what your target is. |
