-Actually I was going to make a Paladin/Bard/RDD/DC build, which I think is pretty much the most powerful melee build possible.

Bard requires non lawful alignment, NOT chaotic. For example, I could be Lawful good Paladin and then become Neutral good and still become Bard.

But a DM would only change your alignment for you if you actually made a mistake - they won't change an alignment so you could make a build that shouldn't work.

Exactly so its a moot point either way. dream crushed, sry.

But then again whats stopping you from taking a sorc lvl? i know the bard lvl gets you 1 ab but woopedi do.

Favored soul gives you RDD as well, custom dex tweak, and will give you some focus in melee as well.

Of course!!! I'm such an idiot, I was so focused on getting those classes I totally overlooked the possibility of Sorcerer/RDD. Dark blessings to you, Tranquility and thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Last question: is it within the rules to make a good aligned character if you're in evil faction ie. dark legion?

Nothing wrong with us evil folks perverting a paladin. So go for it.

Someday i'd like smite be based on faction and not on alignment, but really thats all just to keep you from doing unbalanced builds like you were planning.

and there are no class restrictions based on guild alignment.

Don't have keen senses either.

Please discuss this, i really would like to make these balanced.

And guess what, once 1.23 comes out i can change them all so no more ECL issues. I'll be able to choose my own bonuses, i think this is actually a good idea.

Taking out ECL all together is really the only way to go. There are very few ECL races that get played and it's basically restricted to farming or PvP'ers who want to use a <20, <12 or <8 build. It's just not worth giving up the levels when we only play with 30.

For now, I would say make Gray Orc same ECL as Earth Genasi (similar stats, they get scent but are dayblind) and make Yaun-ti same as Drow (drow have -2con but get spell resist).

In any event, I can't really see myself playing either of them. I think we should play around a little bit with the expansion, have some real discussion about race balance after patch 1.23 and then make serious changes. It's a shame the game we play comes with so many playable races and we only really use a handfull.
