If this is not your first time downloading the PWC, you probably
enjoy the module so take a moment and
Vote for DEX on the NWVault!.

The DEX PWC can be downloaded by using World Gate Client (WGC). WGC will automatically review all of the components in your existing DEX PWC and associated files, and then automatically download only the changes.

Note that we have provided several images within the installation and run procedures below. These are intended to maximize the comprehensiveness of the instructions. If what results on your screen doesn’t look exactly like what is presented within the images in these instructions, this should not be an issue. It is only due to you having a different version of WGC than what was used to produce these images, i.e., images in this instruction were produced from WGC versions 1.3 and 1.4, and our clients may be using version 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5.

The total (installed) size of WGC is ~ 1.4 MB.

************************************************************

WorldGateClient Installation Instructions:

Step 1:
Quote:

Download WorldGateClient.msi from the NWVault:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Nwn2tools.Detail&id=29

Step 2:
Quote:

Click on Run to start the Installation Wizard:

Image

Step 3:
Quote:

Click Next followed by Install to complete the installation:

Image

* By default, it will attempt to create a new folder and install files within C:/Program Files/WorldGate/. It is recommended that you install it to the default location.

Installation Completed:
Quote:

Once installed, you should have the following files in your WorldGate installation folder:

Image

It will also create a shortcut on the desktop. It's most convenient to put this shortcut right next to your NWN2 shortcut so you can check for updates before playing.

You are now finished with the installation of WorldGateClient. Very Happy

In the event that you require more help on installing WGC, you can download video instructions provided by the World Gate Author, Tanita, here:
http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/Download.php?id=91816

************************************************************

Using the World Gate Client :

Step 1:
Quote:

Run the WorldGateClient.exe by double-clicking the new shortcut.

Image

Step 2:
Quote:

The first time you start the WGC you will need to configure it to get the DEX PWC. Click on new to display the New PW Definiation screen.

Image

Step 3:
Quote:

Click on from URL to display the URL entry form.

Image

Step 4:
Quote:

Enter www.dungeoneternal.com and click OK.

Image

Step 5:
Quote:

This will automatically configure WGC with the information needed to retrieve the DEX PWC files. Once the data is filled in (as seen on the screenshot), click on test and exit

Image

Configuration Completed:
Quote:

You will now see the WGC main window with the DungeonEternalX configuration displayed. Click on check for new files to update your PWC to the latest version.

Trouble Shooting:

If you either freeze or lock up while trying to log into DEX2, you probably have a communication error in regards to a firewall/antivirus/router.

Quote:
Quote: From GameSpy Arcade

What is a firewall or proxy?

Firewalls and proxies are software programs or pieces of hardware designed to protect your computer and/or network from Internet intruders. Some of these are:

Windows XP Firewall
Norton Internet Security
Tiny Personal Firewall
Zonealarm
Sygate (proxy)
Wingate (proxy)
Internet Connection Sharing aka ICS - provided by Windows 98SE and higher (proxy)
Linksys Routers (hardware firewall)
D-Link Routers (hardware firewall)
Cisco Routers (hardware firewall)

Working Around the Firewall / Proxy

If you are behind a firewall/proxy and are able to change its settings, Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function:

6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)

Or the original Bioware Forum thread can be found here:

http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=560311&forum=116

There is another Bioware "Self Help" thread which may be of use and can be found here:

http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=564002&forum=118

These ports must be opened in all possible firewalls. Check the manufacturer's site of your hardware/software in question if you need assistance doing this.

I Still Have Problems:

If you have taken the steps thus far and are still having problems, there is a chance that the resource strain from NWN2 is too much for your computer in it's current configuration.

You may want to "tweak" it as best you can, which you can find other helpful hints here:

http://www.dungeoneternal.com/phpBB2/ftopic5666.php

I Still Have Problems #2:

If, after all of this you are still unable to log in to the server, please feel free to contact Obsidian since they have previously stated that their game was not originally optimized for on-line multiplayer gaming. With each patch however, they have made strides to improve the performance of on-line play.

If you have Windows Vista

You will likely experience problems when tyring to use World Gate. If so, try using this workaround; I found it while browsing another server's forums (RP server named Dragon Coast: Shores of Haldun):

Quote:
Install WorldGate in a folder outside of c:\program files (x86)\

(Disabling UAC may also fix the problem, but I didn't try it)

I uninstalled WorldGate and created the following structure:

c:\games

I then installed WorldGate here:

c:\games\WorldGate\

It works just fine this way. I also went ahead and moved nwn2 into the same folder structure just to keep the programs together.

Please give us some feedback and let us know if this worked for you. Thanks

Not sure if you wanted the feedback posting in here, but the Vista fix works a charm. I thought I wasn't going to be able to play with vista, but followed the instructions and bang, working a treat!

After you get from url change it to .com from .net, this is a detail that got missed since the move of the site, it fills out most of it, just correct that after it retrieves the config and it will work.

When u set this up again following ur instructions Hatred it says the url is www.dungeoneternal.com/public_html and consequently doesn't allow u to test and exit (404 error).

However, if u manually change the public_html to wg it works fine, so long as u deleted the old one and set up a new one as u said to do.

I don't know if anyone else is having similar issues, but this happened to both Bug and I.

Ok thanks very much, the detail you provide in particular is a big help. This is one thing that I haven't been able to figure out how to test reliably on my own yet - becasue I am both the admin and a client, then it may somehow be referencing my admin files for configuration data, even when I move them.

So everytime I test it, it works well. I even replaced the worldgate.ini file at the host site, so that it should produce the exact same .pw file that I have which works correctly everytime (whenever someone uses the "from URL" method, it just references the worldgate.ini that is in the root folder of the host site in order to create the .pw file).

Anyway, I'll put some more time into this later to optimize the procedure, for now, people will need to read this thread and attempt SleepyDeath's, Pain's, or Pug's suggested countermeasures.

Thanks

Another alternate method (maybe someone could verify whether this works) would be to:

1.) Navigate into C:\Program Files\WorldGate\worldgate and empty that folder.
2.) download this file (DEX2_PWC_Hatred.pw): http://www.4shared.com/file/40838822/69dc0ecb/DEX2_PWC_Hatred.html
3.) manually place this file (DEX2_PWC_Hatred) into C:\Program Files\WorldGate\worldgate
4.) Run WorldGateClient,
select DEX2_PWC_Hatred from the drop down menu,
hit check for new files

and should have received a message and be able to update from there. The message should read:

Testing new site host, new acting administrator.
Please report any problems at
www.dungeoneternal.com within the HELP forum, there is a stickied thread for WorldGate.

Thanks for the alternative method Hatred. I've had some troubles with WorldGate too, whenever I tried to update I ran out of memory. WorldGate was allocating all memory (I have 4 GB), probably some endless loop somewhere in WorldGate. Your "DEX2_PWC_Hatred.pw" file fixed this though.

ok thanks sleepydeath, pain, pug, pkr_slayer, due to the details you've provided, I think that I identified the issue. I set up a new worldgate.ini at the host-site today and it should work fine from URL everytime now. If so, I'll clean up this thread more so that its not intimidating to first time visitors.

During the transition to DEX#1021.PWC, we hit a new obstacle to successful WG downloads. I believe we've identified and resolved the issue so please try to retrieve DEX#1021.PWC now.

If any problems, please delete the files inside of
C:/ProgramFiles/Worldgate/worldgate/ .pw

Now you can use the from URL method and just simply type in www.dungeoneternal.com, hit test & exit, and then check for new files.

After receiving DEX1021.PWC, verify that you have it by using the transition from Loftenwood Pond into (what was the dwarven exterior map, but is now the castle development map).

Thanks

Let me know how this works for you, thanks.
