Hello DEX friends, been a while i used to play on NWN1 in the server. Now that I have NWN2 and MoTB, I am eager to get back into the server. I've spent the afternoon following the steps outlined by Seed on how to download the WorldGateClient and run it to sync up with the DEX server, and that all seems to have gone off without problem. My trouble is that when I go to join Dragon Eternal X through the multiplayer online play option in NWN2, after I've made my character and choose to enter world, and the world seems to have spent a moment loading, i recieve the message ''Could not load the module. There was an error loading the module.''
Have I not succeeded in operating the WorldGateClient as i hoped to have, or are there seperate modules from that I'm still missing? The character i made to enter DEX with seems to have been remembered by the server as I can select it as a premade now, so it would appear i have made contact with the server somehow. Any help in getting me past this last hurdle and into the action online again would be enormously appreciated. I can't wait to get ganked to the poop on my ascent to level 30 |

I am not sure if this would give that error message, but do you have the latest version of MOTB? If so, make sure your override folders are empty. (Don't think that could be causing the problem, either, but...) All else fails, I am sure someone here knows more than me. |

I am assuming you are new the NWN2, and have not done any overrides or gone on any other persistent worlds.
Generally this means the PWC file is not available.
Can you double check it is indeed there.
Check the folder "My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/PWC"
Is the file "DEX#1018.pwc" sitting in this folder.
This is 310 megs or so in size.
If it is not, you did not do worldgate properly.
Now if that is ok
Check the folder "My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/hak"
Is the file "dex.hak" in this folder. It is 269 megs or so in size.
These are what you need to play. |

In NWN2 PWC file I have ''Dex#1017.pwc'', of 315 megs - seems I'm one off somehow. I have the dex.hak in my Hak folder, 240 megs in size. If this information is just off enough to be incompatible with the module, what's my next step - remove these files and try a reinstall and redownload of WorldGateClient maybe? |

World gate does not need to be reinstalled.
You should just run it periodically. The idea is the devs can update whenever, and the players run it daily if they are wise, or when they see the last updated date yelled by clancy if they are lazier. This was a while ago, so you probably just have to run worldgate to make this work. |

I get the same problem and I finally understand why. DEX1017 is what I have, the server version is 1018, but no matter HOW many times I run WorldGate, it won't get version 1018. The admins need to fix this... |

Try renaming it to 1018, just change the 7 to an 8, then run worldgate. Makes sure the file size changes.
You might have to delete it if that does not work, but you don't have to reinstall worldgate.
If the filesize does not change, do not connect to the game, you will crash, and cause the server major lag, this is entirely with the purpose of diagnosing worldgate not updating the pwc file. The pwc if it is not updated is not suitable for playing with. If the filesize does not change, delete the pwc file, and run worldgate again. |

That worked! I can't use WorldGate now though because when I do it asks me to migrate to 1017, so I think someone needs to fix the naming still, but this will at least let me get on the server for now. Lemony, this should work for you too! Just rename to DEX#1018 and run the game. |

No it does not work *****GRRRRR*******
You are going to lag out the game for ALL the players. If someone is in game, tell these tards to get off.
If you don't update to the latest version, don't go on the server, it has the wrong name for a reason. Since it does not update, delete it and try again. Just because you manage to hack your way into loft does not mean it's working. |

I think we need manual download for some of these players that can't deal with worldgate. Be a good advert anyway on the vault. |

Pain, it's not MY problem the admins can't set up worldgate right so everyone can download the latest file without a hitch, ok? I think my version is the latest, just named wrong. I would much rather have a manual download anyway, it's so much easier for us players to handle because there's less things to go wrong. And also, I know how to work worldgate, I did it exactly as told. The URL for the downloads is set as http://www.dungeoneternal.net/wg I don't know what else to tell it. |

Well the admins and the players have been using it for a while now, and it's a lot easier than manual updating, as changes come quite often, and the update just downloads a small portion of the file each time. 600 megs in files is a lot to download. The problem i imagine is a configuration one, as you should just be able to hit update once it's set up. The files you have i know are wrong, as 1017 is not supposed to be showing up.
I think the issue is you entered www.dungeoneternal.net, which is where we are going to be putting the files soon, but the new site is having some issues so far, and only has things fromt he 20th. Looking at the instructions that say ".net", not sure why this was changed, before we all move to the new site.
You should click edit, then from url, then enter www.dungeoneternal.com and try that. I think this will fix it as the from url will pull config data from our site. |

Ok that worked. Thanks a ton pain, sorry I half yelled at you back there. I just didn't like the way you said "Just because you can hack your way into loft..." since you know I wasn't trying to hack my way into anything |

You have to understand what you described causes the server to just become a pile of poop, i came on to make sure you weren't still on and the players said it was laggy earlier and they remembered your name. Just make sure the worldgate is run periodically as the devs won't say anything if they make a minor tweak that is mainly color or something trivial. The game can work quite well, but it has a lot of issues that only by the support of the players we can avoid.
I'm heading off to torture some devs who caused you some problems. Have fun playing. |
