Here's a link to the DEX XP and Gold Calculator. These should match the in game numbers exactly:
CR Bonus: There is a small bonus applied for killing a monster of a higher CR than the maximum level in the Party.
For each CR over the maximum Party Level, a 5% XP bonus is given up to a maximum bonus of 25%.
If the maximum level in the Party is higher than the Monster CR, an XP penalty will be applied of 10-99%.
Bonuses are rounded to the nearest 5.
| Code: | CR Diff Bonus/Penalty
-5 -99%
-4 -70%
-3 -50%
-2 -30%
-1 -10%
0 -
1 +5%
2 +10%
3 +15%
4 +20%
5 +25% |
Party Bonus: A small XP bonus is applied to Party sizes of between 2 and 5 PC's.
Parties with more than 5 PC's will incur a penalty.
Bonuses are rounded to the nearest 5.
| Code: | # in Party Bonus/Penalty

2 +5%
3 +10%
4 +15%
5 +5%
6 -6%
7 -14%
8 -24%
9 -36%
10 -50%
11 -66%
12 -84%
13 -100% |

Someone else just suggested this in another thread, and I wanted to second the opinion, thought perhaps this thread was the most appropriate place for it:
Please increase the amount of gp gained per kill.
I should add:
and/or
increase the value of gold one gets for pawning or trading in (to upgrade) older equipment.
XP gain is generous enough. I reached level 20 within 3 days (I am sure some could probably do it in a day if they had a good group and smooth ISP and server performance).
But as far as gold, I imagine it will take a long time for me to ever get my equipment up to par. I visited the crafter/vendors tested their capabilities/limits, and came up with a list of the ideal equipment setup for my particular build. The total cost is roughly 1,100,000 gp. I think the cost to optimize equipment from vendors for most builds will arrive to within
+/- 200,000 gp of that figure.
I think 20 levels got me about 25% of that amount (could be more, but having to buy crummy gear first to get by lower levels, then the cost of upgrading or pawning off that equipment eats away tremendously at the gold you've earned through 20 levels of grinding).
I don't expect my character to be fully, optimally equipped (from vendors) the moment he reaches level 20, but maybe should be at least get halfway there.
So I'd suggest maybe 100% increase on gold gain
and/ or
maybe closer to a 100% exchange on used equipment
OR, could you suggest to me some methods to maximize my gold gain efficiency?
Thanks |

Try to buy gear at only lvl 5, 10, 15. This allows you to save the lost money for buying less than maxed gear and then further upgrading it.
Once you have a set of +2 gear (lvl 5) and are ready to upgrade to lvl 10 gear (+4) save your old +2 gear on another character or mule. Why? Because you can xfer it to another character and save having to spend that money next time.
With the buffs/scrolls available that you would probably take/buy anyways, you can easily get to lvl 5 completely naked. Try it.
Boss Hunt, some wpns dropped by bosses are worth quite a bit.
If you are wanting to sell a boss drop or item... simply shout WTS or something. I have been known to buy troll teeth and other unique boss drops from players, (on my player account) Keep in mind that lvl 20 players can no longer spawn certain bosses, so selling them a ... CR 14 boss drop for example is a great way for extra cash as well. A lot of 20s have more gold than patience to repeatedly hunt a particular boss.
You get the most amount of gold per kill when you are solo.
Always try to kill the most pwrful creatures that you can manage. ie. if you wait till lvl 13-15 to kill tomb watchers you will get considerably less gold than if you tried to lvl there starting at lvl 8.
Take part in quests that occasionally come up from the DM.
Basically, you just have to be money wise. It's been a while since my first ever character and it probably was more of a money crunch than now with subsequent characters. Either way. Saving your old gear will do wonders if you enjoy playing and experimenting with different builds.
I've also heard Dragons like to hoard gold...
Also, PKing others is also a way to make some extra gold... See Seeds thread named "lol'ed'. |
