Hey guys! I recently bought the game and MOTB. I'm really interested in PWs and PVP so this seems like the place for me! The last experience I had with PVP was with Asherons Call 2 quite a while ago. I really miss the in game politics and PVP competition.

I'm looking for some advice on feasable pvp classes. I generally like wizards, but after playing through the single player campaign a bit I'm not sold on their pvp abillities. It very well could be because of my general lack of experience though. I'd just like to get an idea of what type of class will stand the test of time in pvp.

What are the in game politics like on Dex? After reading through some of the threads on the board I see it has a light vs dark thing going on which is exactly like what was going on with Asherons Call 2.

What does it take to get accepted into a guild? I like to play on the "light" side of the pvp action.

Thanks in advance for the help fellas! I look forward to getting ganked quite a bit until I get leveled up! All you gankers keep in mind that I WILL hold grudges Laughing

The best advice I can give you about PvPing on DeX2 is to play DeX1 instead.

You really just have to jump in and play. Welcome and hope you have fun.

Please ignore eliar. Dex is on both versions and his comment was not to play NWN2 but NWN1.

Start by reading the book in your inventory when you start will help. And asking for help in game will hopefully have someone volunteer to show you the lay of the land and where things are.

As will reading http://www.dungeoneternal.com/phpBB2/forum95.php. Lot of empowerments to the various classes.

As for builds, we have a test server, and i'd advice you to talk to people in game for advice on what you are trying to do. Or post in the builds section. Learning new builds is half the fun here. From what i've seen clerics and druids tend to be the most powerful and good choices for new players. Taking a little bit of UMD (5) and some spell craft will allow you to cast almost any scroll which most use for buffs.

Yeah I had a feeling it was a bit of a troll comment. Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to check out the thread you mentioned.

Also be sure to check out this thread: http://www.dungeoneternal.com/phpBB2/ftopic4978.php. It shows you the feat, spell, ability, and weapon changes. This may have some effect on your builds.

Also, make absolute sure to put points into UMD and probably spellcraft, and it's almost necessary to get your maximum potiential. It can be hard though when you don't have many skill points. I forget what thread the UMD ability changes are in (might be in the one I already linked), but give those a read over so that you understand how exactly it works, or if you're not sure just ask more people about it.

As for builds... I'd recommend you play something that you think will be fun and interesting rather than just shooting for min-maxing, but maybe that's just my personal preference. I always just play things I like. One thing though is make sure you understand how feat selection works, and read up on epic feats in the instruction booklet or some other source. It'd be a good idea to decide what epic feats or multiclasses you want to take upon creation of your character so you can build towards those things.

Ok, real advice, which applies to both DeX1 and DeX2, probly.

Being a PvP server, it's generally pretty powergamey, and most people aim to max out their builds and characters to get the best edge in PvP. As a general rule, first builds will always suck. They're more for testing the water than anything else. Get in and ask questions, try to find out a decent cookie cutter build, and make one of those.

If you have both NWN1 and NWN2, its a good idea to play both just to see which you prefer. You can't rely on anything anyone says as a good basis, you can only make your own decision. There's some people with NWN1 that play NWN2, and there's a buncha people with NWN2 who play NWN1. Generally though:

DeX2 has much better graphics than DeX1, it has more quests and better story-play. It's also a bit more sophisticated script-wise, and has fancier areas, due to the sexy toolset that came with NWN2. The downsides are that there aren't many DeX2 players due to the difficulties that come with PvP in NWN2, you need to download a big thing every time you wanna play online, and it is much more prone to crashes.

DeX1 has more players, and is more about the PvP than DeX2. It's probly got a more power-gamey mindset than DeX2. I also get the impression that it's less grindy, lvling is faster, and its less about the gear than DeX2. It runs smoother than DeX2, fewer crashes, no annoying downloads. The downsides are, of course, much simpler overall, worse graphics, less sophisticated areas and fewer fancy scripts.

Oh yeah, and DeX2 is more bunny huggerish.

lets add in dex 2 is 1/10th the size of dex 1 pvp is childish ( if ur good u will be prosecuted) dex 2 is a buggy pile of crap obsidian i am gettin close to thinking will never fix. dex 1 has 4-5 x more players. more content. and not a crappier of a dm/ dev team.

i guess i will see u in hell but im sure u will ruin that oo

Meet emperyon - a DeX2 vet. He's a total jerkwad, but he played DeX2 for a long time.

I recommend you spend some time on the test server, you can autolevel to 30 there to make sure your build works at least on the basic level of being able to get the right stats and feats.
