Cant log in

i cant log into dex atm the server is on the list with players in it but when i try to log in i just get a black screen forever... It happened after i crashed out due to lag while pvping in prairies..

same kinda thing here. i can pick my build from vault but load screen freeze's.

You have to wait for your portrait to show up before you can log on.

I'm still haveing major issues with lag, logging in, timeing out, disconnects....

thngs of this nature.

lets just run a test take out the emotes or whatever they are and lets see if that makes the crashing and lag a little better.

im having the same problem as shady when i tried to log in.

It's impossible to enter, after picking my toon i wait 10 min looking at the black screen... wtf!

i find it helps if at char select screen u wait untill all chars load . like if all ur chars portraits are blank wait till they all load then try to log in. it takes just as long but is more effective for me i can get in if im patient .

Dev's need to check those affected by this for a ITP file in there Servervault under the affected accounts. If they all have one, then some new, an dirty scripting with NWNX-FF/Letoscripts are occuring after an edit has been made. Simtools is not suported by NWNX-FF, never has an has no guarantee's it will function properly. There is no reason to use NWNX-FF anymore since its benefits have been outdated for years now with the development that has occured on NWNX.ORG. Not to slam it, sorry. However it seems the additional scripting at least coincides with the new system installed.

Possibly the installation is at fault, who knows without logs being shown an discussed. However, rather hard to install it wrong when you only add one line a code per event required(handful) along with importing the resources. Oh yeah, adding the parameters in the .INI file for nwnx.

Hope things turn around real soon, for this is a great addition to any module.

There are no ITP files in the vault at all.

The last release of NWNX was 1/15/2005 and the last release of NWN-FF (NWN-MySQL.exe) was 10/20/2005, so I don't think NWNX has anything that NWN-FF does.

The choice was made to use NWN-MySQL because it does not use ODBC to access MySQL but rather uses MySQL API functions and provides a faster access to the database.

NWN-FF also contains the profiler dll directly in the source so all script executions are logged.

It also gives my timing stats on all SQL transactions. This is a data for 2 typical DEX sessions. A total of 15-20 seconds is spent running SQL over a 3 hour session:

The issue with nwnx_chat not working in NWN-FF was that it was hard coded to read NWNX.ini for the script to run that chat processing against. Once I put the scripts into that config then NWN-FF ran it fine.

All that said, I think I found the issue on the server. An anti-virus program was installed that was configured to run a virus check on EVERY FILE ACCESS. So everytime a bic file or a log file or a MySQL file was written, the virus scanner was running a check against it. In addition it was running full disk scans in the middle of the day. I configured the scanner to not check the server vault or the NWNX logs or MySQL data files and scheduled a weekly full scan for Monday 5 am EST.

Hopefully, the issues go away with this change.
