Garbage

I'm leaving out names for now. Let me explain the situation:

I'm all by myself attacking trolls. I'm level 9. A clan member (with the lightning boots and such) strolls up behind me when I have about 10 hit points left and kills me without any provocation. He was level 17, I was level 9. It wasn't a fight, it was more of a backstabbing while I'm trying to level. He followed me all through the marches, didn't do anything, then when I'm on death's door fighting trolls, he steps in and slays me.

I shouted that his behavior was garbage, and he used his alignment (evil) and his faction (which is apparently evil) as an excuse to interfere in my leveling. How am I supposed to stand up to a level 17 character? There should be some regulation of who attacks who. When I explained how underhanded and unfair his actions were, he then said that he would attack me whenever he saw me, and now his faction members attack me on sight, regardless of challenge rating.

Is that acceptable behavior on this server? Can I expect to be harassed and bullied by faction members? Are any DMs aware of this behavior on the server? I really enjoy DEX, but I don't want to have to worry about fleeing every time a faction member shows up.

This is what I hate about Internet gaming. People just want to push others around, and it's happening on DEX.

why dying is so big deal? you loose litle ammount gold/xp. all you gota do is find new place to lvl. if cant find ask help from some players that have played more.

This is normal on dex. Pvp is ecouraged here. Just dont get mad u will get to 20 even with Dark Legion guys runnin around. They are evil faction that kill everyone, i'm member of good faction that hunt them so if u see any1 in loft with white aura at his feet just send a tell if u see any pker in area that u r lvling. And remeber that once u get to 20 u can have ur revenge.

When you enter DEX2 you agree to not complain about pking. Dex is a FULL PK enviornment. Move on to somewere else. There are no rules on pking anyone on DEX. That is what makes Dex what it is today. A hardcore FULL PVP server. It probably won't be the last time it happens either. Next time ask someone in Order to protect you or something....

but if we noobs, use the forun, our voices will be a lot more important

i think that killing oe time fo fun is ok

but just not alowing peolple to lv.. is wrong...

i mean.. find someplace else to lv? C MO GUYS! NOOB DO'T KNOW ANOTHER PLACES TO LV!

It's harassment. Plain and simple. I don't care what the rules are. A level 17 player should not be bothering a level 9 player. The rules in place make harassment not only possible but acceptable. Very lame.

I know I can go elsewhere. The best XP at the time was with the trolls.

ask help from other people where to lvl.
if u dont ask you can blame only your self if get pkd many times in same lvling spot...

Great. More evidence that harassment is the norm on DEX. What a terrible thing to realize when considering what a fine module it is.

Frodo should have been able to just walk to Mt Doom without fear and thumb his nose at Sauron because Sauron was 100 levels higher than he was and Sauron killing him would just be harrassment.

PvP is FULL and it's that way to set up an environment where there are "the Hunters", "the Hunted", and "the Hunters the Hunters". You need to get out of "the Hunted" (cannon fodder) category and move to either the 'Hunter' faction (evil) or the 'Hunters of the Hunters' faction (good).

This is not path of ascention. You need to be quick on your feet ( fingers ) and be able to find other places to go. If all else fails, you can start another character and level it in non pvp areas, kill lower level mobs for less experience, or do something else untilt he PKer logs off. It is DeX, love it or hate it, it isn't going to change.
DeX is a fine module because it is very popular and DeX has some very active devs and DMs. The full Pking is a major reason for this.

Terrible analogy. Not only did Sauron have no physical form with which to attack Frodo (which is beside the point), Sauron would have stopped Frodo due to reasons beyond "I'm an anonymous Internet gamer and I want to annoy and abuse other people in a consequence-free environment." Sauron's motivation had depth and purpose. There's no purpose in slaying effortless players aside from wanting to annoy and harass others.

Fine. It's a PVP server. I guess I'll have to wait until the expansion before I can play this game without being bothered by people who have no power in real life and choose to abuse fake power online.

Damm mate, just dont take this game so personaly... If u get killed once by some pker during lvling its not a big deal, the problem is when u get hunted and killed by one player over and over again, then u can inform Dms about that cuz afaik griefing is illegal.
So the bottom line here is just suck it up, dont get mad, ask higher lvl players for protection. Lol i usually got nailed like 5-6 till i get to 20 and most of times help just comes to tale. Thats just the way it is here...

As a DM I thoroughly endorse and enjoy "abusing fake power online" (also known as pvp). I wouldn't even feel the need to justify as an "evil" act either.
