Look, people, it's not about simply being PKed. I can handle the PK. My problem is when my only PKs--let me be very clear, MY ONLY PKs--are the result of impossible CR players attacking me when I'm on death's door, surrounded by monsters, buffs exhausted, with barely any hp left. Not only is that unacceptable, it's against your server rules. Let me explain:

I looked at your server rules, and it says very clearly that higher level players are not allowed to whittle away at monsters so that the lower level player can mop up the kill for high XP. That is exactly... EXACTLY what these PKers are doing to me (maybe not simply for xp, but the behavior is the same). Waiting for the monster to bring me down to 10-20 hp, then the PC sweeps in and slays me in one blow. That is not PVP. That is harassment.

Someone is bound to respond with, "Rule 12a doesn't apply to PVP." Huh. I wonder why. If I whittle down a monster so my lower-level buddy can easily slay the monster, that's cheap and underhanded. That's cheating. How is my situation any different? Monsters are whittling me down, and then some impossible CR player steps around the corner or fades in from invisibility and wastes me. That's cheap and underhanded. That, folks, is cheating.

There is no arguing with what I'm saying above (unless, of course, you're choosing ignorance or are one of the bullies). Rules are being broken, and folks use the "you clicked ok when you signed in," or "it's a full PVP server!" or "git urself sum cleenecks u n00b!" or (and this is my favorite) "im evil can do wuteva i want!" to explain away harassment and bullying.

Again, it's not about the PK, so stop assuming that it is. It's about harassment. People who enter DEX should be adequately warned. And by "adequately," I mean, "By clicking yes, you agree to wanton harassment and maybe some PVP if you're lucky."

I enjoy the server. The module is beautiful and varied, with bosses and treasure and tons of places to explore. It's the best PW server I've seen for NWN2. What a terrible shame that some people offset that beauty with despicable playing (and have the gall to insist that it's not despicable playing).

can all you pkrs send him a tell asking if he is fighting monsters because you want to pk him in the future, that should work, lol, i mean how many times has a pkr found a lowbie and thought "no, i wont pk him he's busy"

But seriously what's the difference if u have 100 HP or 10 Hp when 20 lvl char comes to gank u?? U still gonna die in first round probably.
And u can remember those nasty pkers names and when they r logged just keep ur damm playerlist open so u could port out or run or heal urself b4 they get to u.

Well if so many pk'ers are sitting around watching you waiting for you to go low HP, and they even wait until all of your buffs are expended, why don't you run away. If you are standing there fighting while someone stands there and watches you, its probably your fault for just waiting to be pk'd.

Besides, when does your opinion describe what is despicable and what is not despicable? I think its despicable that you insult people's real life position from behind the safety of your computer screen when your criticism accuses them of the exact same thing.

At the end of the day, you have to look at a server like DeX more like a fps game. When you die in an fps, you don't argue about it or get mad due to how fair or unfair it was: getting killed is part of playing fps games and no matter how good you are it's gonna happen.

Well, the same applies on deX: you are gonna get ganked sometime or the other. The guy who ganked you gets more pleasure and enjoyment out of it when you piss and moan, about it.

Best thing for it is to do one of 2 things: play somewhere else, or realize it's just a animated toon, hit respawn and plot your revenge.

With all that I’ve read in response to my OP, and after playing on DEX for about two weeks, I understand now that I’m going to be harassed. I’ve learned to live with it. In life, there are people who harass others. Blowing the whistle on harassment is not whining. Wanting to be treated fairly in a public domain (real or virtual) is not some outrageous new concept, people.
